No — your Home Assistant hub operates entirely on your local Wi-Fi network. Even with no internet, lights, cameras, locks, and automations all keep working. You only need internet to access your home remotely from outside.
The hub runs on a UPS (included in Pro and Estate AI packages). Cameras with battery backup and battery-powered smart bulbs stay active. We configure loadshedding detection so your system can automatically switch off geysers and high-draw appliances when load-shedding starts, protecting your equipment and saving battery.
Yes — Home Assistant integrates natively with Alexa and Google Home. Pro and Estate AI packages include voice assistant setup. You can control lights, plugs, and climate with voice commands.
Home Assistant supports over 3,000 integrations — including Philips Hue, LEDVANCE, Tuya, Sonoff, TP-Link Kasa, Shelly, and many more. We assess your existing devices during consultation and advise on what's compatible. For devices that aren't, we recommend compatible alternatives and supply them as part of your package.
Essential and Pro packages are typically done in a single day. Estate AI installations may take 2 days depending on the size of the property and number of devices. We confirm the exact timeline during your consultation.
No — your package price is a once-off payment that includes hardware, installation, and initial support. Home Assistant itself is free and open source. The only optional recurring cost is the Priority Support Plan add-on (R3,499/year), which is entirely optional.
